The very peak of El Yunque is up these 54 steps. Great and ever changing views from up here. Not a good spot to camp as it is too exposed.
Making oneself at home! Forest service provides rest hut along the many trails.
The highest hut on the trail up to the peak. There are no facilities but you can sleep under the little hut if you prefer that to a tent on the ground or a hammock tent.

To camp in the Luquillo Mountains, in the El Yunque National Forest you need a permit ( free, but a donation would always be a nice thing to do). See the camping page for more information.

DON"T forget to bring a rainjacket and a sweater or seatshirt, it does get cold and it is very damp. Demian forgot his sleeping bag liner and said he got cold. Bring flashlights ! Please take out everything you bring in, including all your garbage.

On the plus side: There are no bears and no poisonous snakes!
